Over the course of thanksgiving break i read many pages in the book Farenheigt 451. This book so far is about a ver y troubled and problomatic society far into the future where life is messed up deeply. Montag is a firemen and he is the main charecter in this story. Firemen do not put out fires though, they start them. in this society books are burned because they are illegal and seen as a crime to posses one.

Another problem that is very evident is that suicide is every where. it is such a problem that if someone does it, doctors cant even help the person because it is so common. Montags wife Mildred has many problems. She just sits in front of a tv all day, took 30 sleeping tablets in one day, and doesnt even seem to care about her husband at all. She doesnt even remember how they met.

The book QB1 by mike lupica is about a family of quarterbacks that play texas football in highschool and are known very well. In the Cullen family Troy Cullen is the dad of a few sons and they all have a legacy to live up to. Troy Cullen was a high school legend, collage star, and an NFL quarterback. With this being the case, his sons are expected to pick up where their dad left off.

In the state of texas football is a really big deal. and when older brother Wyatt wins the state championship and gets a full ride schoolarship to Texas university. Younger brother and high school freshman Jake Cullen is expected to be the 4 year starter for his high school. Jake has a problem though, he doesnt know if he wants to be a quarterback, so hes faced with a major decision, i cant wait to read further.

The book that I chose to read was QB1 by Mike Lupica. This book is about football which is a key hobby and passion of mine and I care about it a lot. Mike Lupica has written many sports books which is one of my favorite kinds of books, he makes them very detailed and enjoyable to read  an I like them a lot . All his other books I really enjoyed so I'm anticipating this one will be good too.

The work does not get to much into the debate of good vs. evil. But right and wrong is mentioned a few times. there are a lot of cases throughout the story where they are used. When the Tuohys take Michael and make him one of them is a good example of right. When Michael goes back to hurt village and lives amongst the thugs he once lived with, that is an example of wrong.

The theme that is most meaningful in my opinion is helping those who are down back up. Not just literally like in this picture though. The whole idea of this story was that the Tuohys helped lift up Michael when he was in a spot of extreme poverty and weakness. And he ends up to be extremely wealthy and looked out for and happy.

If I could have a conversation with Michael Oher, I would ask him so much about his childhood and all the hardships that he faced and later overcame. Like What was it like always changing schools, How did it feel to be drafted in the first round, and most of all how do you feel that football changed your life. Hes a role model a lot of people look at and myself included.

One of the real world problems reflected in this book is helping the less fortunate. The Tuohys found Michael Oher just roaming down the side of the road and they took him off the side of the road, gave him a home, helped him, gave him football. Michael Oher earns millions of dollars  Each year with the Baltimore Ravens and is a completely man than he was when he was 16. The Tuohys saved his life and gave him one of the best ones imaginable. And if people were to do this more often the world can be a better place.

Sean Tuhoy Jr. is the boy in the middle and the son of the great Sean Tuhoy. Sean Tuhoy was a talented student athlete and now a wealthy buissnes man. Sean Tuhoy Jr. is also a talented basketball player and got a full ride schoolarship to loyola. He was a member of several academic and honor sociates in high school and was one of the best basketball players in the history of his high school. He is a red shirt freshman and expected to be a big part of the Loyola basketball team.

Sean Tuohy is a very impressive person. He was born in poverty in New Orleans and worked his way up to one of the richest men in the nation. When he was younger he went to Ole Miss on a basketball scholarship. Standing at about 6`1 150 pounds people didn't think much of him but after he graduated he ended up with the SEC record in assists, which still stands today. He now owns 85 fast food restaurants, is the broadcaster for the Grizzles, and works for the Ole Miss sports analysis team.

Collins Tuohy becomes the sister of Michael Oher when he is adopted into the family. Like Michael she too was a student athlete winning the state title in Tennessee for pole vault. She was also a football cheerleader and became great friends with Michael after awhile of getting to know him. They both attended the university of Mississippi and Collins Tuohy later got a degree in sports broadcasting.

I think the author wrote this to tell kids everywhere that if you stay in school and join a sports team, you can escape all the mistreatment and pain you might of had as a kid. A lot of michaels old siblings and friends died because they dropped out and joined gangs and got into drugs. If they stayed in school and found something they can do at school, they're lives could've been very similar to Michaels and they would have lived a lot longer.

One of the main charecters in The Blind Side is lianne tuohy. She is the wealthy woman  who thought about taking Michael in for a day, but ended up adopting him.  She found him on the side of a road one night and took him in for the night to keep him out of the cold. She ended up seeing him as a person instead of just some street kid so instead of putting him back on the streets she took him in a few more nights and ended up adopting him. She went from remorseful to his lifestyle too loving him as a son.

Michael Oher is a very big man. He is about 6'5 and weighs over 300 pounds. Growing up he was always called big mike because of his size. But it was not till high school that he started playing sports and really getting to show what he could do. In many lines in the story teachers of his recalled that he could hardly fit in the doorway due to his massive shoulders and overall size. He was also made fun of and seen as an outcast because of his size compared to everyone else at his high school.

The Blind Side

The book I will be reading this trimester is The Blind Side by Michael Lewis. It is the story of a a whealthy family who come across Michael on the streets and took him in. Over time he begins  to form a close relationship with the family and becomes there adopted son. When he decides to play collage football for the school where his adopted parents went, the NCAA suspects it is a scandal and Michael doesnt know what to believe. The reason i am reading this book is because my friends recomended it and it was a good movie as well.
